The Jing Method™ of Advanced Clinical and Sports Massage

Newhaven | Brighton

Advanced Massage Therapy for Pain Relief

Pain is complex and unique to each person. I offer advanced massage therapy using The Jing Method™ - combining effective hands-on techniques with modern pain science understanding.

I provide an inclusive, understanding space where all bodies are welcomed and respected.

Massage that listens to your body, and your story

I’m Jemma Jackson, and I believe in the power of massage to change lives. Not because it’s soft and lovely (though it can be), but because when it’s grounded in evidence, held in partnership, and done with genuine care - it works.

This is not a spa massage. It’s not a one-off deep tissue “blast” either. Jing Method™ Massage is clinical, creative, and collaborative. It’s a form of advanced bodywork that we do together - using hands-on techniques, movement, nervous system education and rehabilitation strategies. To help you understand and work with your pain, not against it.

Sessions are suitable for people living with persistent or complex pain, those adjusting to body or life changes, pregnancy from the first trimester, and anyone ready to take an active role in their own recovery.

I don’t offer single sessions because this kind of work needs time. Time to understand what’s going on for you, time to build trust with your body, and time to create lasting change, not just temporary relief.

Packages start from £295.

What an amazing treatment from Jemma. Totally blissful, while also addressing all the pain and discomfort I came with. I left moving more easily, feeling totally relaxed and renewed.

What makes it different?

Pain is complex. It’s shaped by far more than tissues – it’s shaped by your story. Stress levels, relationships, sleep, hormones, trauma, thoughts, beliefs, sensory sensitivity – they all feed into how we feel in our bodies. The Jing Method™ honours that complexity.

It blends the latest understanding of pain science with hands-on care and therapeutic partnership. No routines. No "fixes." Just thoughtful, responsive treatment based on what your body and nervous system actually need.

Jemma Jackson teaching The Jing Method massage at the Jing Institute in Brighton

I trained to the highest level in this approach and now teach it at the Jing Institute, where it's been changing the massage industry for over 20 years.

You get:

  • An experienced therapist who listens deeply.

  • A treatment plan designed for your unique needs.

  • A safe space where change can happen at your pace.

Touch is how we come into the world, and safety is conveyed to us by being held.

- Bessel van der Kolk

Who is this for?

I work with people who are living with all kinds of physical and emotional challenges, including:

Persistent pain (chronic pain, tension, or discomfort that’s been hanging around for weeks, months, or years) | Stress-related symptoms: burnout, fatigue | Pregnancy and postnatal clients | Systemic Conditions: hypermobility, fibromyalgia, CFS/ME, autoimmune conditions | Repetitive strain injuries | Recovery after surgery or injury | Neurodivergent clients who need adjustments to feel safe and comfortable | LGBTQIA+ community | Musculoskeletal Conditions: back pain, neck pain, shoulder pain, hip pain, knee pain | Sports injuries

If you feel like your body is holding onto something – pain, exhaustion, stress, trauma – we can work with that.

All pain is produced by the brain. This doesn’t mean it’s not real - much to the contrary.

What will happen in a session?

Every session includes time for consultation, orthopaedic assessment, and discussion about how things have been since your last visit. We might look at movement patterns, check benchmarks, or explore what's changed.

The hands-on part might include:

  • Deep tissue massage

  • Myofascial release (MFR) techniques

  • Trigger point therapy

  • Hot stone massage

  • Active stretching (PNF/AIS)

We might also use mindfulness techniques, breath work, or simple rehab movements to help integrate the session. This isn’t a passive treatment. It’s a collaborative process – I bring my knowledge and experience, you bring your body and your story.

Between sessions, I’ll support you with personalised strategies to help your body continue to adapt and shift. That might include specific stretches, movement ideas, journaling prompts, or simple daily adjustments.

“Jemma’s touch was strong, accurate and filled with kindness. The pressure was just perfect for me. It felt like a massage, but it was effective as a treatment. After the appointment, my hip pain was gone.”

Packages and Pricing

I don’t offer one-off sessions, because whilst they can provide short-term relief, they rarely bring lasting change.

Massage is most effective when delivered as part of a treatment plan, and the body needs time, trust, and repetition to create meaningful shifts.

Sessions start off a minimum of weekly, and as we move towards your goals the gap increases. Once you have worked through a package you are welcome to move onto a membership or book another package.

You can choose from three packages depending on your needs:

  • 4 sessions (valid 4 months)

    2x 90 mins + 2x 60 mins (book 90 mins online; others arranged together)

This shorter package is ideal if you’re dealing with a new or relatively low-level issue — maybe something like a stiff neck, postural pain, a recent injury, or general muscular tension. It’s also a good choice if you’re brand new to clinical massage and want to get a feel for how this approach can support you.

Together, we’ll begin by listening closely to your body and your goals. Your first session includes a full consultation and orthopaedic assessment. You’ll receive targeted hands-on work (like myofascial release, hot stones, deep tissue massage, and joint mobilisation) as well as guidance on simple movements or lifestyle shifts to support your progress. The two follow-up sessions allow us to build on what works and begin a clear direction forward.

  • 6 sessions (valid 8 months)

    90 mins + 4 x 60 mins + 90 min review (book 90 mins online; others arranged together)

Designed for people living with ongoing or recurring pain, whether that’s migraines, back pain, pelvic pain, or movement restrictions linked to stress, hormones, or fatigue. This is a great option if your symptoms are starting to impact your day-to-day life or confidence in your body.

We’ll begin with a detailed assessment and map out a plan together. This package allows us to explore the deeper roots of what’s going on - not just the site of your pain, but how your whole system is responding. We’ll use a combination of hands-on treatment, movement rehab, nervous system support, and education to help you reach your goals.

  • 10 sessions (valid 12 months)

    3 x 90 mins + 7 x 60 mins (book first 90 mins online; others arranged together)

This is the most in-depth support I offer. It’s best suited for people living with complex, long-term pain, multiple overlapping issues, or those recovering from significant life or body changes: including long COVID, burnout, trauma-related pain, or hormonal shifts like peri/menopause.

Pregnant clients are welcome from the first trimester.

The extended format of this package means we can pace things gently and thoroughly. You’ll have more time to settle in, reflect, and try out what we’re working on between sessions. We can track patterns, reassess what’s working, and adapt our plan together. Alongside advanced massage techniques, we’ll focus on nervous system regulation, movement confidence, and sustainable strategies for living with more ease.

“Jemma is exceptionally knowledgeable and skilled. She got to the root of my pain, treated the cause, and helped me understand how to prevent it returning. I can’t recommend her highly enough.”

Memberships

Once you’ve worked through a package, it’s not a question of if life will put pressure back on your body – it’s when. The same desk, the same daily stresses, new hobbies, kids on your hip… life keeps happening, and your body keeps adapting.

Jemma Jackson structural integration

A membership gives you the support to stay on top of things rather than slipping backwards and starting all over again.

Pick a rhythm that suits your life and your budget. You don’t need to be in crisis to keep receiving care. You just need to know that it helps – and want to keep going.

Sessions are monthly and don’t roll over.

You can choose from three membership options depending on your needs:

  • Perfect if you want to keep things ticking over. Maybe we’ve resolved a specific issue, but you know your body feels better when you get regular input. Once a month gives you a chance to check in, notice changes, and stay ahead of tension or pain before it builds up again.

  • Great for managing ongoing symptoms, busy bodies, or times of extra stress. Fortnightly treatments give us the space to work with deeper patterns, support your nervous system, and respond to how your body is doing from week to week. It’s steady support, without being overwhelming.

  • For when you know your body needs weekly input to stay on track. This option offers consistent, focused work with enough frequency to really shift stubborn patterns, stay connected to movement goals, or support long-term regulation. It’s also a solid option for people in active rehabilitation or emotionally demanding life seasons.

Just a few things to know:

Memberships are only available to returning clients who’ve completed a package with me. Sessions don’t roll over, so it’s up to you to get them booked in – I’ll help you stay on track. Think of it as a commitment to yourself, not just your calendar.

Ready to begin?

If you're curious or have questions, you're welcome to book a free 15-minute intro call or fill in the contact form. We can talk about what's going on for you, and whether this approach feels like the right fit.

This is a space where your story matters. Where your body will be met with compassion and clinical skill. And where we take the time needed to do things properly.

 FAQs

  • The Jing Method™ is an outcome-focused massage therapy approach, which means we work together toward a clear goal – like reducing pain, increasing movement, or managing symptoms. It blends Eastern techniques (like shiatsu, Thai massage, acupressure) with Western styles (such as deep tissue, sports massage, and myofascial release). Sessions are active and collaborative. I’ll often give you homework (in the form of simple movements, exercises, or rest strategies) to keep the work going between appointments.

  • Yes – that’s my main area of work. Whether you live with fibromyalgia, hypermobility, chronic fatigue, migraines, endometriosis, or general muscle and joint pain, we’ll work together to find what helps. I’ll adapt the pace, pressure, and plan to match where your body’s at.

  • Yes. I’ve trained specifically to work with women and people from the first trimester onwards. The treatment will be side-lying and all techniques are adapted to support your changing body. I’ll check in regularly to make sure you’re feeling comfortable, supported, and safe.

  • No – and that’s on purpose. Before you get on the table, we’ll do a consultation and orthopaedic assessment to understand what’s happening in your body and what kind of outcome you’re hoping for. That way I can tailor the treatment properly. After the hands-on work, we’ll reassess and go through rehab, stretches, or mindfulness strategies you can use between sessions.

  • Sometimes. If you’re already in pain, some areas might feel tender – but I never work from a “no pain, no gain” mindset. My aim is to work within a comfortable range whenever possible. You’re in charge of your session, and we’ll always adapt if something feels too much.

  • Only to your comfort level. You’ll be securely draped at all times and I’ll only uncover the area I’m working on. If you’d rather stay fully clothed, no problem – I can work with techniques like myofascial release, active stretching, and acupressure. Just wear something loose and comfy that lets you move easily.

  • No, not anymore, I only offer packages – but I can recommend plenty of brilliant, highly trained students who do offer one-off treatments. Drop me a message with your location and I’ll point you in the right direction.

  • Jing Method™ massage is clinical and results-focused. It’s not a full-body relaxation massage or a set routine – it’s a tailored, evidence-informed treatment designed to help you move better, feel more comfortable, and understand your body. It’s gentle when needed and strong when appropriate – but always responsive to you.

  • Loose, comfortable clothing is best, especially if we’re doing movement work or staying fully clothed for treatment. You can bring layers to stay warm after the session too.

  • Absolutely. Many of my clients are autistic/ADHD’ers/AuDHD’ers, and I do my best to create a space that feels safe, respectful, and low-demand. If there are particular sensory needs or communication preferences you’d like me to know about, you can share them anytime – no explanation needed.

  • You can cancel or reschedule up to 7 days in advance without charge.

Packages are non-refundable from 7 days before the first session.

Memberships need one month’s notice to cancel.

  • You’ll book your initial 90-minute session and pay in full online, and we’ll book the rest together. Packages vary in length, so you can choose the one that fits your needs and availability.
