The Jing Method™ of Advanced Clinical and Sports Massage
Newhaven | Brighton
Massage for people in pain
Pain is rarely simple, and it is always unique. I offer advanced massage therapy using The Jing Method™ - combining effective hands-on techniques with a modern understanding of pain science.
At my home clinic in Newhaven, I provide an inclusive, understanding space where all bodies are welcomed and respected.
Massage that listens to your body, and your story
I'm Jemma Jackson – advanced clinical massage therapist, Jing Method™ teacher, and firm believer that there's no such thing as a standard body. Two people can turn up with the same hurty shoulder and need completely different things from me, because pain doesn't happen to a body part – it happens to a whole person.
You bring your body and your story; I bring my hands, my clinical reasoning, and a stubborn refusal to work from a routine.
We start from where you actually are, and build from there.
Jing Method™ Massage is clinical, creative, and collaborative. It’s bodywork that we do together - combining hands-on techniques, movement, nervous system education and rehabilitation strategies.
It helps you understand and work with your pain, not against it.
Sessions are suitable for people living with persistent or complex pain, those adjusting to body or life changes, pregnant women (and people) from conception, through the fourth trimester, and anyone ready to take an active role in their recovery.
“What an amazing treatment from Jemma. Totally blissful, while also addressing all the pain and discomfort I came with. I left moving more easily, feeling totally relaxed and renewed.”
- E.G
What makes it different?
Pain is complex. It’s shaped by far more than tissues – it’s shaped by your story: stress levels, relationships, sleep, hormones, trauma, thoughts, beliefs, sensory sensitivity, (i.e. LIFE!).
The Jing Method™ honours that complexity, blending the latest understanding of pain science with skilled hands-on care and therapeutic partnership. No routines. No promises of a “fix”. Just thoughtful, responsive treatment that meets your body and nervous system where they are.
I trained to the highest level in this approach and now teach it at the Jing Institute in Brighton, where it's been changing the massage industry for over 20 years.
You get:
An experienced therapist who listens deeply.
A treatment plan designed for your unique needs.
A safe space where change can happen at your pace.
“Touch is how we come into the world, and safety is conveyed to us by being held.”
- Bessel van der Kolk
Who is this for?
I work with people whose bodies are carrying pain, tension, or exhaustion in many different ways. Some live with long-term or recurring conditions such as fibromyalgia, hypermobility, or chronic fatigue. Others are navigating pregnancy, postnatal recovery, hormonal shifts, or stress-related fatigue. Some live with persistent (chronic) musculoskeletal pain (back pain, neck pain, shoulder pain, hip pain, knee pain )
Many of my clients are neurodivergent or part of the LGBTQIA+ community, and I aim to make this space feel, safe, respectful, and adaptable to individual needs.
If you feel like your body is holding onto something – pain, stress, trauma, or sheer exhaustion – we can work with that.
“All pain is produced by the brain. This doesn’t mean it’s not real - much to the contrary.”
— Explain Pain (Moseley & Butler)
What will happen in a session?
Every session includes time for consultation, orthopaedic assessment, and discussion about how things have been since your last visit. We might look at movement patterns, check benchmarks, or explore what's changed.
The hands-on part might include:
Deep tissue massage
Myofascial release (MFR) techniques
Trigger point therapy
Hot stone massage
Active stretching (PNF/AIS)
Depending on your needs, we may also integrate mindfulness, mobilisations, or strength-based rehab movements. This isn’t a passive treatment. It’s a collaborative process.
Between sessions, I’ll offer personalised suggestions to help your body continue to adapt and shift - from movement and strength exercises to small daily adjustments that make a real difference.
“Jemma’s touch was strong, accurate and filled with kindness. The pressure was just perfect for me. It felt like a massage, but it was effective as a treatment. After the appointment, my hip pain was gone.”

Programmes and Pricing
I don't offer single sessions, because this kind of work needs time. Time to understand what's going on for you, build trust with your body, and create lasting change rather than temporary relief.
Instead, I offer three programmes (from £290) and ongoing memberships, each combining hands-on treatment with assessment and rehabilitation strategies.
Full details, prices and FAQs are on the Programmes & Pricing page.
“Jemma is exceptionally knowledgeable and skilled. She got to the root of my pain, treated the cause, and helped me understand how to prevent it returning. I can’t recommend her highly enough.”

Visiting the Newhaven clinic
The clinic is a quiet, warm therapy room at our home on Lewes Road, Newhaven, with free parking on the drive. It's a 20-minute walk (or a short taxi ride) from Newhaven Town station/12, 12A and 12X bus stop, and the 123 stops on the other side of the road to us (get off at Piddinghoe Mead - its the stop in the bushes).
The room is on the ground floor, with a few steps up a sloped path to the front door. We share our home with a large dog – she won't be in the therapy space, but you'll probably hear her say hello when you arrive.
Full directions, accessibility details and what to expect when you arrive are on our Find Us page. By appointment only.
Ready to begin?
If you're curious or have questions, you're welcome to book a free 15-minute intro call or fill in the contact form. We can talk about what's going on for you, and whether this approach feels like the right fit.
This is a space where your story matters. Where your body will be met with compassion and clinical skill. And where we take the time needed to do things properly.
